Student Well-Being and Safety

“When I think of school safety, I think of a student’s mental health, the quality of life in school, or relationships developed between students.” - Officer Staci Stallings, School Resource Officer, Silver Creek High School

Ensuring health and success for all St. Vrain Valley students

Across St. Vrain Valley Schools, districtwide safety, and student and staff well-being are among the highest priorities in our approach to ensuring a world-class learning environment.St. Vrain is considered a model for its implementation of many school safety protocols including our secured double-vestibule entrances and security cameras both in common areas and outside the perimeter of the school.

We benefit greatly from strong relationships with our local law enforcement partners and are increasing our School Resource Officers to include two at every high school, one at every middle school, with additional support for elementary schools. This is in addition to campus supervisors at our secondary schools and two full-time school safety experts in our central office.

In addition to continued investments in school safety, St. Vrain Valley Schools has also prioritized and emphasized resources to support student mental health and well-being. We have increased elementary school counseling staff coverage to full-time, and added counseling staff our secondary schools. St. Vrain has also implemented robust social emotional learning programming across schools including Sources of Strength, Seven Mindsets, and InFocus.

Community engagement is important to shaping the safety and quality of our learning environments. To that end, we invite community to join us at our upcoming annual meetings with the Superintendent to discuss school safety, strategic priorities, and ways in which St. Vrain can continue to partner with our parent community to ensure student success.
